China Geo-Engineering Sri Lanka Branch’s T Water Supply Project Department Rushes to Support Emergency Water Supply Repairs Following Flooding |
|
In early December, continuous heavy rainfall hit many parts of Sri Lanka, triggering severe flooding. Areas surrounding the T Water Supply Project Department of China Geo-Engineering Sri Lanka Branch were affected by serious floods, resulting in damage to parts of the water supply pipeline network and disruption to residents’ daily water use. Following the outbreak of the disaster, and in response to an urgent request from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board of Sri Lanka (NWSDB), China Geo-Engineering Sri Lanka Branch promptly activated its emergency response mechanism. The branch immediately organized the T Water Supply Project Department to mobilize equipment and technical personnel, forming an emergency repair team that rushed to the affected area to carry out water supply restoration work. At the repair site, roads were damaged and working conditions were complex. Despite adverse weather and difficult site conditions, the repair team worked continuously for two days and two nights, conducting comprehensive inspections and efficient repairs of the damaged pipelines. As a result, regional water supply was restored to normal in the shortest possible time, effectively ensuring residents’ basic water needs.
